Marilyn Stata
BIOGRAPHY
Marilyn Stata is the newest Board member of the Self- Advocacy Association of New York State, Inc. (SANYS), an organization run by and for the people with Developmental Disabilities. SOAR (Speaking Out Advocating Rights) President, ARC of Monroe County former Vice-President, and former ÅmeriCorp member/team leader for two years and 2007 Advocate of the Year
SCHOOLING:
BOCES graduate 1992 of Brighten High School. She has worked towards her GED but is planning g on pursuing her high school diploma in preparation to attend college.
Marilyn lives in a supportive apartment with her four-legged roommate “Anna” a Maine Coon cat.
“Self-Advocacy Association allows me to grow, meet new people, build self-confidence,” says Marilyn and she is passionate about self-advocacy and wants to spread the word.
Marilyn has performed work duties such as; Peer Advocate at Friends Helping Friends which is an administrative position. A receptionist for ARC of Monroe County. Her new position is a receptionist at the Institution for Social Inclusion (IZZY).
