Dear Friends and Supporters,
Once again it’s time for our annual membership drive. Your membership and support really mean a lot to
us and give us a real boost for the important work we do on behalf of all people with developmental
disabilities who, like those of us who are board members of SA, want to speak up for themselves and
take control of their own lives.
In the coming year we will continue our work on a number of projects including Self-Determination,
AmeriCorps, Creating Partnerships for the Community, supporting self-advocacy, and our
Speakers Bureau. You can read a lot about what we are doing on our web site, www.sanys.org.
By the way, if you know of any organization that would like a presentation about self-determination,
disability awareness or community participation, please give our offices a call.
This year we are celebrating our 20th anniversary as an organization. Our annual conference theme
for this year (September, 7,8,9 at the Marriott in Albany) reflects our focus for the coming year:
Self-Advocacy 20, Celebrating our past, creating our future.
Funds that we raise through our membership campaign help us produce our newsletters and
publications. In the coming year, we plan to make a lot more improvements to our web site,
newsletters, SA brochures and handouts so that we can better communicate with self-advocates and
supporters. Thanks again for helping to make this a successful membership fund-raising campaign.
Please continue to share the goals and work of self-advocacy with people you know in your workplace
and community. You can help us spread the word by encouraging others to become members and
donate to our work.
Please click on the folowing link to obtain a Printable Membership Form. If you want to help spread the
word about SA, just call the SA Office at 518-382-1454, and we’ll send you some membership envelopes and
materials about Self-Advocacy.
Thanks again for your generous support!
Kelly Schultes, President,
and the entire SA Board
